From the marine reserves of Malaysia to the dry forests of Brazil, youth-led movements are taking conservation into their own hands, mobilizing communities, influencing policy, and reshaping humanity's understanding of its relationship with nature.

From the Amazon rainforest to the Arctic tundra, Indigenous communities have long safeguarded the land and territories they’ve inhabited, which hold 80% of the world’s remaining biodiversity. Their expert knowledge of ecosystems and sustainable practices, which have been passed down through generations, is indispensable to winning the fight against climate change, according to the United Nations (UN).

Climate crisis impacts, such as floods, mudslides, droughts, or hurricanes, have intensified in recent years. With temperatures at record levels already, by 2050, climate change is projected to push an additional 158 million women and girls into poverty, which is 16 million more than the number of men and boys affected, UN Women says. 

From rural to urban communities, young people and those most affected by water scarcity, economic challenges, and the climate crisis are joining forces. Their collective action is setting the stage for a sustainable future driven by innovation and collaboration.
